************************************* The Moraf Comic, a ComicForge project ************************************* The main plot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The heroes' motivations ----------------------- Midir: He is looking for an ear of the Glaetterlizzard, a weird little species of lizzards only living in the Glitterdark Forest. Peace between the orcs and the humans in that area would mean that noone would bother him while he is running around in the forest. Drombosh: He is Midir's best friend, and he also likes any sort of adventure. He is a little old fashoined regarding things like chivalry and would naturally help any lady in danger. He likes picking up fights with Arcadia and Rilandel, but that may be due to the fact that he usually has a hard time telling people that he likes them. Arcadia: She realizes that being with Midir and Drombosh means being where the trouble is, and that's just how she likes it. She will claim that she only fights as a service to her goddess, but deep down she really enjoys it herself. Protecting the weak from evil is also on her agenda. Rilandel: She is an elven archer dispatched by her lord to keep an eye on Midir and thus is honor bound to the party. She begins to realize though that those people she is traveling with have, while not being as civilized as elves, their own code of honor and are a likeable bunch, all in all. Other characters and their motivations -------------------------------------- Lizya: The daughter of the local orc chieftain. She wants to break out of the traditional ties the orc society. She also knows that an outright war between her tribe and the humans in Borderwood will eventually extinguish her tribe "vashzopai-i orci boi" (Lowspeak: "There's many humans but few orcs"), so she wants to go for an agreement. Kylan: The son of the gouvernor of Borderwood. He was kidnapped by the bandits, he wants to go home. Mersilian: The boss of the bandits. He is an undead Mage who was recently freed from a sand dune by a sand storm after a couple of centuries being trapped in a sanddune, he left the desert and now works on stocking up his finances in the first step of domination of all of Dural, to be ready for the return of the Master. He is planning in long terms, and has learned the virtue of patience. The story --------- Mersilian decided that the new colony of Borderwood with all the new settlers, the trade and the lack of security would be the ideal terrain to set up his new base. He teams up with a group of outcast orcs from a nearby tribe and decides to play out the humans and the orcs against each other. He sends his men to kidnap the orc chieftain's daughter and the orcs to kidnap the human gouvernor's son. His plot has three weak points. First, the orcs are just going through a lethargic phase, and the kidnapping of a female is considered unfortunate, but not worth a big war. Second, the orc girl manages to flee. Third, there's a bunch of heroes around that will cause some trouble in future. The orc girl hopped out of the frying pan into the fire, as she ran right into a group of men searching for the gouvernour's son. They captured her and brought her back to Borderwood to make her an example. That's where the heroes enter the scene. They rescue Lizya and promise the villagers of Borderwood to find Kylan and rescue him. Lizya is impressed by Arcadia and decides to follow the heroes. She also sees an opportunity to prove that not all orcs are bad.
